Do not go gentle ...

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on that sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

~Dylan Thomas

My dear father passed away peacefully today at 4:30. He fought long and hard to stay here with us, he railed and cursed the dying of the light but his poor body was spent and unwilling.

Thank you so very much for being there for me these past six and a half weeks, your friendship has meant so very much to me.

  5. My prayers are with you and your family. I am so sorry for your loss, but considering all your Dad has been through these last weeks, I am sure it is a blessing he is no longer suffering.

  7. Oh, Sally, know that you are loved and that God will comfort you and your family.

I was going to ask you for your mailing address, to send you something, when I read this post. If it's not too much trouble at this time could you email it to me? If you can't, I understand. suelovescherries@verizon.net

  15. Sally,

I'm sorry you have to walk in another pair of shoes, those.. that a lot of us have already traveled in.
The journey is full of hills and valleys, looking ahead is what we are supposed to do, but just this morning on my "walk" I turned and looked behind for a sneak peak at a memory of my own dad. It's what keeps him with me.

Prayers to you and yours and an abundance of "sneak peaks".
    Barbara
